There’s no telling at this point when the current wave of shoegaze’s wheels will fall off at this rate, especially when you’ve got Wishy’s “Donut” to spare. The Indiana five-piece, featuring former Hoops bassist Kevin Krauter and Nina Pitchkites on guitar and vocals, guitarist Dimitri Morris, bassist Mitch Collins, and drummer Connor Host are an apt compliment to upcoming tourmate (and recent Buzz Sound) Tanukichan’s anti-gravity form of dreamy noise-pop, with their blend careening through a dualistic sensation of ecstasy and blearing burnout from a relationship moving fast into the distance. “Don’t follow me / I’m speeding down HOV / And huffing on gasoline,” sings Pitchkites. “Don’t follow me I’m fine but / I’m driving on a donut.” Something tells me that even if the tire popped, it’d only make Wishy fly straight into the heavens…
