In hindsight, it’s said that everything is 20/20. “Out of Town”, the latest single from Cartwheel, Hotline TNT’s sophomore effort and first for Third Man Records, is an compelling juxtaposition to that theory considering the life lens which the Brooklyn band’s frontman, Will Anderson, sees through is swarmed in their collective blearing, blissed out noise-pop where clarity — at least, sonically — is all but a given. Perhaps it’s the headrush of a romantic opportunity gone before it began that causes the synapse static rendering that which we hear before us. “Play me your sound / On the way out of town / Say you’re not down / Tell me your choice out loud.” That last part, at the very least, comes through in detail. Too late at this point, but Hotline TNT feel it all vividly through the whirlwind realization of it all.
