HEALTH feat. Godflesh – “SICKO”

The art of collaboration is very well known to HEALTH who’ve mastered it across their DISCO series of releases, having heard the Los Angeles noisemakers construct industrial-strength bridges between scenes of artists as varied as Nine Inch Nails, Soccer Mommy, Backxwash, and Xiu Xiu. “SICKO”, one of two early highlights from the band’s upcoming fifth studio effort, RAT WARS, is a different kind of beast of alternative sources of energy within HEALTH’s existential burden, however, as it fuses a sample of Godflesh’s sludgy, demon breather “Like Rats” into their own electric fissures and apt dystopic timeline. The process of melting metal into their own future state deepens a void of no purpose which their sound zeroes in on. “I don’t need love / And I don’t want love,” Jake Duzsik whispers in cold breath as everything burns around him. This is a twist of fate, with HEALTH reaching out to godliness in order to feed their next evolution of nihilism.
