Mary Lattimore – “Horses, Glossy On the Hill”

The compositions of Mary Lattimore are oft impressionist to the imagination, and on “Horses, Glossy On the Hill”, her capturing of the title in sonic scenery is near-absolute. In the listen’s leadup of clinkering percussion, you can hear that of the fast trot of these wild beasts into frame. What are they running from? Perhaps it’s something in the air which we as humans cannot sense. That ominous horizon soon transforms into a shimmer from a multiplicity of strings and orbing synths layering into one another, however, pushing what once loomed into the foreground as the majestic arrival of the herd fixates on a spectacular occurrence in nature, all the way until it retreats from your view.

Mary Lattimore’s Goodbye, Hotel Arkada will be released October 6th on Ghostly International.
