“Your pretentious ways make me die a little,” Nina Cristante in the opening moments of “my little tony”. This is such a bluntly shaded statement to make that sounds well targeted, considering the London indie rockers just earlier this year released one of the year’s best breakthrough efforts and are already onto the next with the arrival of this November’s follow-up, The Twits. But perhaps its the trio of Cristante, Jezmi Tarik Fehmi and Sam Fenton lack of concern for self-image that toils up this flow of creative inspo, contorting their past sonic conditions into one where their shape beyond the slight crush of impressionistic electricity is in a constant state of flux. “Keep playing with my receiving hand / Because you know you’ve lost the game.” Where others are so concerned of appearances from the outside, bar italia make keeping tally of their own elusive.
bar italia’s The Twits will be released November 3rd on Matador Records.
