Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter – “ALL MY FRIENDS ARE GOING TO HELL”

The name Lingua Ignota may have been laid to rest over the course of the past year, but it does not mean that the embers of a spirituality torn soul still rage within the vessel which we knew it through in the flesh of Kristin Hayter. Now rechristened as Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter, a resurrection creatively and of the self is around the corner with her first release under the moniker, SAVED!, which will continue to dissect Hayter’s entangled relationship with Christianity in all of its most extreme measures. The album’s lead single, “ALL MY FRIENDS ARE GOING TO HELL”, can be interpreted as her twist on the typical puritanical preacher delivering unto us from evil, with Hayter singing in community with bellowing pianos a warning to all those who choose complacency over true morality. “Brother who knows what goes on in the night / He won’t lift his voice to speak up for what’s right,” she sings, fully consumed by the spirit’s word. “Silence may let you to sit for a spell / But when you die you are going to Hell.” Using God to instill fear in others is a tale as old as testament, and here, Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter wields its powers as they were intended.
