Sweeping Promises call “You Shatter” – the latest preview from their forthcoming sophomore effort, Good Living Is Coming For You – their “ode to being a hammer”. Title and context in frame, the Lawrence-based duo of Lira Mondal and Caufiel Schnug still manage to make the art of breaking everything apart into pieces sound like pristine glass candy before any of that happens through their fine-crafted post-punk design. As the listen postures a confident new wave cool in drum and basslines with bravado and Mondal’s keen sense for explosive pop siren calls cast across shadowy dance floors, it’s as if nothing can stand in the way of any tribulation when you’re moving like a force that hits hard upon impact.
