Militarie Gun – “Will Logic”

Spotting the bullshit radiating from others a mile away is hell of a sixth sense, and Ian Shelton has it. On “Will Logic”, the latest single from Militarie Gun’s formal debut full-length effort, Life Under The Gun, he acknowledges that spite from the get-go. “I can see you / I can see the knife in hand / Don’t feel like the bleeding / So I guess this isn’t it,” Shelton ominously declares in the listen’s opening frames. Still, there’s something else imbued beneath always having to be on the defense, with guitarists Nick Cogan and Will Acuña’s cleaner angles layering over bassist Max Epstein and drummer Vince Nguyen’s charge, turning down the post-hardcore aggro for a more introspective form of bummed out post-punk that reimagines them in the “PDA” signals of Interpol if Interpol were fronted by a gruff hardcore vocalist: The world should be a place where trusting others shouldn’t be such a lift, but it is. And it’s exhausting to have to deal with.

Directed by: Will Acuña

Militarie Gun’s Life Under The Gun will be released June 23rd on Loma Vista Recordings.
