Jenny Lewis – “Giddy Up”

The sunlight has always worn itself so well beaming off of Jenny Lewis’ aura, but whenever she slinks into the night, there’s a little bit of magic in places hidden that come out to play all the more transfixing. “Giddy Up”, the second single from her forthcoming album, Joy’all, isn’t just a supernatural chemistry unlocked in the dark between two warm bodies, but a different kind of vibe simmering from her latest spell of songwriting: one part oxytocin drip in a trippy ebb of a bass line caressing its way around every warm curve and one part psychedelic high in its strain of cosmic synths connecting body and spirit into an elevated level of being. “Take a chance / For a little romance / We’re both adults,” she whispers. This ride takes it slow through the shadows, but makes you feel every tempting sensation along the way.

Jenny Lewis’ Joy’all will be released June 9th on Blue Note Records / Capitol Records.
