Seasons may change, time passes us by, but the Revolution Summer continues to forever inspire a positive energy flowing through the scene’s veins despite life’s decay in the form of affirming melodic hardcore. More recently, Fiddlehead, One Step Closer and Praise have been sources of this in their respective art, and soon, Toronto crew Mil-Spec will contribute a fresh existential rush when they release their follow-up to 2020′s breakthrough debut full-length, World House. Its first preview, “The Days Don’t End”, is quintessential posi core: Guitairists Dan Darrah and Matt Laforge set in motion a collision over drummer Jacob Hellas and bassist Codey Thompson’s churn. Meanwhile, vocalist Andrew Peden takes control over chaos. “We don’t care that no year is for sure / Or that our best friends are berserk / Summer air will be thick with memory,” he screams in anthem. Stars explode, years add up, and the listen reaches a seemingly insurmountable climax, only to have met its match. “We’re older now, but never old.” This is to say, we control the timeline and not some social constricts surrounding a calendar.
