Crumb – “Crushxd”

If there is a light at the end of the tunnel, may we all hope that a song like Crumb’s “Crushxd” is there to honor us along the way passing on from this plane to the next. The Brooklyn-based experimental psych band were perhaps destined for this kind of event. Back in 2018, fate would put them right in front of it when they reluctantly played a part in spelling the end for one unfortunate turtle attempting to complete his own tour of the Earth when their touring car accidentally drove right over him. It would not be in vain as long as Crumb are the ones playing both god and sinner over the matter. “Forgive / Me for this sin / Killing / A Living thing,” Lila Ramani’s voice floats from physical atmosphere into ether, a sublimation between an electrical energy groove and droning keyways unlocking paths to new dimensions. Though she may never see that pin-sized half-shell ever again for a closure of forgiveness, she and Crumb ensure its legacy is left greater on this timeline than how they found it.

Crumb’s “Crushxd” single is available now on Crumb Records.
