Buggin – “All Eyes On You”

Most hardcore songs clock in under two-minutes in length, and Buggin’s “All Eyes On You” – the lead single from the Chicago band’s forthcoming debut full-length, Concrete Cowboys – isn’t straying from the pattern. Still, the listen sprints a marathon distance in what brevity it whips up in the pit with their fast, instinctive sound, feeding off a culture of frenzy with their own take on it. Here, it’s the modern day addiction to attention-seeking we’re slammed with daily. Its a collision of hearsay whispers of those envious gossip folk with the scene, shitposting tweets filling up the feed, the TikTok influencer who can’t get enough of a follower count to satisfy their egos, and the very loud villains weaponing their platforms for the worse, and frontperson Bryanna Bennett is calling it all out. When the track jumps into another takedown levied by Jordan Moten of their Chicago peers, Kharma, Buggin’s message doubles down on its focus. At least in their case, getting attention equates to actually having something to say of substance with it.
