Full Blown Meltdown – “Let Me Hang”

Full Blown Meltdown is the songwriting vehicle of former metalcore scene guitarist and current DIY scene enthusiast, Will Green. If there is one thing that’s apparent about where his next creative chapter is headed, it’s a story of harbinging doom with no hyperbole as to why his namesake salutes PUP and compounds the semantics in the most literal senses just as well. The agony, however, is dished out with a twisted grin. What Green does is take the claustrophobic magnification of being deep in your feels at their worst and explodes them into punk-pop anthem, just as he does in the frenzy of shoving off apathy on his debut single, “Let Me Hang”. This one goes out to everyday malaise where neither being stuck inside your own brain or getting out of it offers an escape. “It’s always the same situation every day / I wake up, open my eyes and realize how much I hate the human race,” he spills, yet still tethered by the puppet strings of the existentialist’s grind. Thoughts zoom around a bash of riffs, supercharged drums, and a commotion of gang vocals until it becomes its own blur. “Every day starts to feel the same / Everyone starts to act the same / Every face starts to look the same / Every name starts to sound the same.” Insanity may be this, but at least Full Blown Meltdown squeezes a few ounces of joy from the head-wreck.
