Hotline TNT – “If We Keep Hanging Out”

What lays behind the fuzzy shrapnel of Hotline TNT’s sound is a question that may have crossed the Brooklyn band’s growing cult of listeners, as the project spearheaded by former Weed guitarist and frontman Will Anderson has leaned heavily on swirling distortion into the folds of his colorfully-blissed bend on noise-pop. “If We Keep Hanging Out”, the first preview from Hotline TNT’s imminent promo tape, Spring Disco, peels back some of that mystery and reveals that Anderson’s power-pop proficiency hits every bit as hard, especially when compounded by heavy emo wavelengths. This one removes most of the full-on aspects of the band – now a five-piece – isolating Anderson, an acoustic guitar, the hum of keys, and a layering of backing vocals into an overdubbed sequence in an earnest courtship devotional. “If we keep hanging out / I think your love will come around,” he sings. It’s a simple gesture, as is the song, and it’s a step forward into growing well together.

Hotline TNT’s Spring Disco will be released April 1st.
