To be asked to throw down your bars before the master flows of Armand Hammer and AKAI SOLO take the stage has to be an intimidating proposition, but when Jxylen was tapped to open a show that took place inside of a small Western Mass restaurant last year, the young Springfield-based rapper didn’t look like any of that phased him – He looked like he already belonged there. Prolific with a bevy of EPs and a promising debut full-length in his catalog, yet, like all too many in the alternative hip-hop underground, underseen, Jxylen is not letting the noise distract him on “DON’T WAIT”, the first preview from his forthcoming effort, DIVINE ORDER: ACT I. It’s all focus, as the listen serves a dual purpose. Firstly, ushering in a new era full of sunbeaming soul samples produced by ENG.Creation that escape the darkly cinematic inversions of last year’s PROJECT MAYHEM, but also introducing new ears to a poet whose gravely infliction already sets his POV apart from his peers. Jxylen’s staring down self-betterment, and that higher purpose is elevating his game.
Directed by: The XXXX & Deziner Films
Jxylen’s DIVINE ORDER: ACT I will be released May 29th.
