“NMP” is a collision of disintegrating atmospheres between Midwife’s Madeline Johnston and Vyva Melinkolya’s Angel Diaz, two kindred forces in the ethereal heavy who on the first single from their collaborative album, Orbweaving, draw from one another’s respective energies to surface another layer of solitude within the gentle void. Though hope sullenly swirly around the arid soundscape in rays of sunlight bleeding through feedback and vocals peaking into view, the sensation almost feels temporal. “And when I see it / And when I’m near it / It’s so perfect / No more pain / I promise to be good.” And then it evaporates into the air before the feeling can be captured in full.
