“Monument” may be at the centerpiece of Vulture Feather’s forthcoming debut full-length, Liminal Fields, and yet at its core, it signifies moments in resurrection and ascendant perspective from the the band led by former Wilderness guitarist and backing vocalist Colin McCann alongside bassist Brian Gossman and drummer Eric Fiscus. The listen cracks sky in vigor during its early moments, with McCann ushering in a new day from the heavens through his shouted proclamation. “This is the dawning / Of a new currency / Clear the way / For the rising sun.” Things stir supernatural as light grasps control, however,, with the California trio tethering intensity in favor of devotion through anthem. ”Thought I knew what it’s about / Please bless my mind, release this doubt,” he bows to the universe, understanding that the natural forces controlling this existence can either build us or destroy us depending on whether we recognize their power.
