Incendiary – “Bite The Hook”

Before the Turnstile effect took hold of hardcore, you could arguably make the case that Incendiary were doing the kind of gorilla press slam style of big impact anthems with authority best, to the point where frontman Brendan Garrone made for a natural to mean mug his way through the then-Aleister Black’s wrestling entrance theme. But Incendiary aren’t going the pop or experimental direction like so many of the bands that have risen in the wake of their 2017 standout, Thousand Mile Stare, nor are they going to stay put either, as is the case with their return listen – and first track off their new album, Change The Way You Think About Pain – “Bite The Hook”. Garrone remains at the forefront, as a commandeer over one’s fate. “It never stops, or goes away / I rip the weeds from my garden every day,” goes one line. Behind him, the rest of Incendiary wield their heavy of metallic hardcore, but it’s all slings by all the more with might by stacking some weight into their groove. “Look into the mirror / Meet the one you blame.” The “Hook” and message doesn’t just grab you, but rocks your point of view hard.

Incendiary’s Change The Way You Think About Pain will be released May 26th on Closed Casket Activities.
