By today’s definition of content saturation and self-promotion, Feist could be considered enigmatic. Her returns only benefit from it, much like “In Lightning”, one of three early singles from her forthcoming sixth studio effort, Multitudes. The shambled art-folk of her fingerpicking are ever-present against her vocal staircase, but like its title suggests, electricity spawns new creation from her hand in the form of riveting percussion and celestial synths bending their way to her ground. “And in lightning / Flashes flash to show our natural age / And the lightning lights me up / To be as God as I say,” she sings. An almighty return, indeed…
Feist’s Multitudes will be released April 14th on Interscope Records.
