hydrodate – “Early Reflections”

The whole of hydrodate’s “Early Reflections” comes together in a patchwork dream assembling from the conscious in real time. First, there’s a lush haze of slow-sifting guitars and drums working their way through the mind while co-mingling vocals from the Chicago-based four-piece needle together thoughts into visions, and then there’s the crash where shit starts to feel more real than surreal. “Caller number 45 / You’ve run all out of time / You won’t stop now / You just keep going,” voices announce seemingly from every direction of air. As always with any dream, their “Reflections” soon begin to fray, and so does sound gently collapse far back into the conscious with it.

hydrodate’s “Early Reflections” single is available now on Fire Talk / Open Tab.
