It gets exhausting wondering why, to the point where it doesn’t even matter what you’re asking why about. PACKS’ “4th of July”, the lead single off the sophomore effort, Crispy Crunchy Nothing, by the Toronto daze rock outfit spearheaded by songwriter Madeline Link, is a fitting conduit for the bigger questions that existentially wear your down on the daily. “And I can’t deny / I have no idea what’s happening right now / No fucking clue what’s going on right now / I don’t know, I don’t know / Keep it to myself,” Link deadpan sings in a stoned out bliss of ignorance. Time slips by, things get worse, and eventually, there’s way too many questions left to make sense of.
