“Wretched Lie” is a head spin, and intentionally designed as so, as the Tubs’ Owen “O” Williams can’t seem get out of his own head on the latest preview off the rising London band’s forthcoming debut LP, Dead Meat. We experience those thoughts right there with him as his mates’ clean clangor of post-punk rivet, jangling British folk, and melancholic indie rock creates just the right vessel for self-deception to move through a high velocity into a bad energy direction. These are the path to the voids we create ourselves.
