Spiral XP – “Deja Vu”

In a shoegaze-saturation era, Spiral XP offer a reprieve from the familiar ol’ drudge of either heaviness or dazed washes of feedback with a pure pop blissout to break up the monotony on “Deja Vu”. The lead single from It’s Been a While, the second EP from the Seattle outfit led by frontman and guitarist Max Keyes joined by Lena Farr-Morrissey, Jordan Mang, Kyle McCollum, and Daniel Byington, hears the band swerving away from the slowmo speed of their debut EP, 2021′s Drop Me In, in favor of a softer acceleration where the friction doesn’t necessarily dissipate, but forms a warm cushion for the feelies that help mend those pains for the pure at heart instead. Every day might feel the same, but it doesn’t need to sound it.
