Miss Grit – “Lain (phone clone)”

“Hold up your hands if you can’t hold up the act / Hold up your hands if your two lives overlap / Hold up your hands if you want your memories back / Hold up your hands and let go of your phone clone,” sings Margaret Sohn in anthem on “Lain (phone clone)”, the latest entry to Miss Grit’s upcoming debut full-length, Follow the Cyborg. A deconstruction of living authentically in the age of screen versions of ourselves, the Brooklyn-based songwriter synergizes in the heartbeat of her word and pulsing, synthetic sound our current strange dichotomy of being of two worlds where reality is not the Internet, but the Internet surely creates a certain perception of who people think they want to be. “I don’t wanna see everything anymore / I don’t wanna be everything anymore.” This is Sohn’s advice to say: log off to find out who you really are.

Miss Grit’s Follow the Cyborg will be released February 24th on Mute Records.
