The rising noise-pop band Dummy has been all over the map this year (and lit the Internet on fire in the process because of it…,) having toured with a diversity of esoteric sounds ranging from the very buzzy Chicago rockers Horsegirl, indie darling Snail Mail, as well as a host of outlier experimentalists coming up in the independent scene like the fast noise of Lifeguard. During a date with the latter, the two joined forces on stage and put their respective creative electricity to full effect in a cover of “Hallogallo” by krautrock legends Neu! The near-nine-minute zone out is a good reminder to anyone who pegged Dummy as some sort of soft, psychedelic new agers that there’s an unbridled punk methodology hiding in plain sight within their sound, and that taps into itself in building combustion during their live sets, evidenced wholly here.
Dummy & Lifeguard’s “Hallogallo (Live)” single is available now.
