MIKE feat. Sister Nancy – “Stop Worry!”

If previous singles “nuthin i can do is wrng” and “What Do I Do?” heard Mike getting lost in his own woozy, heady space, “Stop Worry!”, the latest preview from the NYC underground rapper’s forthcoming album, Beware of the Monkey, hits the face like a splash of fresh, cool water and awakes you into the present moment. That credit goes mostly to Sister Nancy, the dancehall icon whose own “BAM BAM” still bangs the clubs ‘til this day, and in this case, is the foil to MIKE’s weary-eyed wordflow, still stained in grief following the passing of his mother, but pushing him into the sun and shining over the track’s synthesizer loop. “There’s too much buzz around my name now to stay discreet / How I’m the one who bring the fame ‘round when I couldn’t speak?,” he asks. Nancy knows best, and the answer is to just keep moving.
