A few seconds into “OGO”, and you’ll understand how a band like that of the all-on instrumental disruption and jazzist explorations of O. went from being relative unknowns to becoming openers to compliment the post-punk freakouts of black midi in the span of one night. On the debut single from the South London duo of sax player Joseph Henwood and drummer Tash Keary, the pair move the cantankerous improv dynamic of their untamed live performance inside the well-rehearsed, hyper-focused play expectations of Speedy Wunderground producer Dan Carey’s studio where a single day of recording results in something equally raw, alive, and yet, cut close to perfect from an artful commotion.
