Narrow Head may be the second to last band listed on the poster for the newly-announced hard rock music festival, Sick New World, but by the time it rolls around next spring, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if the Houston five-piece is one of the biggest modern alternative rock names going after listening to “Moments of Clarity”, the first single and title track from their forthcoming third studio effort due out next year. Working alongside producer Sonny DiPerri (Animal Collective, Protomartyr,) the heavy atmosphere of their 2020 breakthrough, 12 House Rock, maintains its weighted riffs and singed chug, but the sky is opened further to reveal an almost-spiritual awakening cracking through vocalist and guitarist Jacob Dutarte’s vantage point from up there. “It’s like / My head’s numb today / Your eyes burn in ways / They don’t know,” he sings, allowing us to see straight through the sun with him.
