Navigating this world right now very much feels like walking across a mine field. “Bombsquad”, the latest from L.S. Dunes – the emo and post-hardcore supergroup featuring Circa Survive / Saosin / the Sound of Animals Fighting vocalist Anthony Green plus guitarists in Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance and Travis Stever of Coheed and Cambria, and Thursday’s drummer Tucker Rule and bassist Tim Payne – and their debut album Past Lives puts that over-stimulated sensation into sound with an anxiety-stretched ripper where everything could detonate at any time. “I need a little less feeling / To keep it on this station / Without a wire, how could I take my place inside?,” Green calls out from the free fall. There’s no safety gear or net from under him from stopping the crash though, and L.S. Dunes see the madness in it all for what it is.
