Show Me the Body – “WW4″

Show Me the Body are continuously recontextualizing the shape of hardcore, but approaching this Friday’s release of their latest full-length, Trouble the Water, the New York City trio sound to be at a new peak experimentally. Alongside the drudging, hard-toothed post-punk of early single “Loose Talk” and the messy conflagration of “We Came to Play”, its final preview “WW4″ is another visceral display of uneasy tension manifesting its way into something all the more heavier and all-consuming. Not outright hardcore in its early moments of frontman Julian Pratt’s words scraping their way over a banjo goth folk, it eventually gets there, and when it does, it burns right through you.
