In a past life, CUSTOMER’s co-vocalist and guitarist Nicola Leel fronted the UK fuzz rock outfit Doe who went out with an absolute banger with their 2018 swan song album, Get Into It. Leel has since fled one political hellscape in favor of another one here Stateside, however, with her new band Customer, which assembles itself with fellow co-vocalist bassist Mallory Hawk, guitarist Dave Medina, and former LVL UP drummer Greg Rutkin. Together, the four-piece keeps the jitters in form with their double whammy of singles “Floorboards” and “Absolutely Nothing”. First impressions may bring to mind Dry Cleaning, but with a less dour accent over every sing-sung word, but as each track pushes past the manic thought processes, they topple over into rough-edged punk-punk riffs with hardcore pile-ons. It’s the kind of kinetic energy where you can hear CUSTOMER easily bursting through that new band excitement barrier thanks in part to fresh nerves.

CUSTOMER’s “Floorboards” b/w “Absolutely Nothing” single is available now.
