“Edging” is the first single from the original blink-182 lineup of Mark Hoppas, Tom Delonge, and Travis Barker in 10 years, and if the prodigal son’s words are to be believed, it should be approached as the red herring to whatever else comes next from their reunion album. That benefit of the doubt can be extended when you remind yourself this: The last time these three dudes were in a room making music together, the radio was still a thing to cater to, and with that, the first single from every blink-182 has always had more than its fair share of lyrical cringe and dumbed down punk-pop hooks. What’s their age again? Who cares. This one’s just about the fun factor, and that’s all they’re aiming for here.
