When you hit play on “Greener Grass’, the latest single from California rock distortionists Modern Color, it’ll feel like you’re sinking through both sides. Combing through an alternative temple of grunged effects with a portal unlocked into warped production that transcends linearity, the struggle for equilibrium between holding close those relationships we value most and the driving passions that potentially might take us away from them creates an asymmetry in every riff ripple between the two. “You see all the flowers / And I see out of view,” sings Fleming Valenzuela. It’s not that anything is amiss in front of you, but the wanderlust for what might be out there can’t help but put your head out of the game…
