A lot of hardcore music can be righteously self-serious, but Punitive Damage invite a certain kind of fun into their fast, furious burn-down-the-world style on “Bottom Feeder” through an utmost pure rock ‘n roll swagger (courtesy of producer Taylor Young’s piano-playing mom, Teresa Young.) Jerkova doesn’t relent from her intensity in deterring her detractors with confrontation and the riffs guitarist Czecho delivers are still wild, but they’re also something you can imagine sending the pit into peak party frenzy when they play it live. Even when the shit parts of life crawl under your skin, you can still peel off the scabs and throw them in your enemy’s face.
