Gold Dust – “Larks Swarm A Hawk”

As Gold Dust, Stephen Pierce exchanges the heavy feedback of Kindling for a sound sparked by the season’s kindling itself in a blend of bright-cornered, reverb-layered psychedelic folk that will surely peak with the foliage upon the release of his second full-length under the moniker, The Late Great Gold Dust. “Larks Swarm A Hawk” is elegiac in rumination of the self for all its ornate beauty points, however. “Got to feeling like a setting sun / Sick of myself and so uniquely dumb / Still tired from being born,” he sings. It’s a lot to sit with despite harvesting a warmth, and when Western Mass scene luminary J Mascis rips a signature solo in its final moments, you, too, feel torn to pieces by the surrounding nature of Gold Dust’s sound.

Gold Dust’s The Late Great Gold Dust will be released November 4th on Centripetal Force Records.
