Arguably, “All I Need to Hear”, the latest preview from the 1975′s fifth studio effort, Being Funny In A Foreign Language, is Matty Healey at his most earnest, and that’s audible in the song’s presentation as well. A piano ballad speckled with subtle 1975-isms with a pinch of reverb and occasional synth spark over lounge room traditionalism, the spotlight centers around Healy’s need for affirmation from his audience. “Oh, I don’t care if you’re insincere / Just tell me what I wanna hear / You know where to find me / The place where we lived all these years / And tell me you love me / That’s all that I need to hear.” We’ve always known that to be the case. Here, we get to hear it from himself, and the truth sounds lovely.
