The video for “Midnight Legend”, the lead single from Special Interest’s hotly anticipated new album and first for Rough Trade, Endure, starts off in the kind of environment they left listeners with their breakthrough sophomore effort, The Passion Of: A seedy, industrial-scraped vibe rife for tragic characters going through some shit. Once the listen pulses in, Alli Logout and the rest of the New Orleans punk band open the opportunity for each to get past all that. It’s the antithesis to their prior self with lighter afflictions in dance-punk – still sizzling, yet cooler to the touch – and words of affirmation courtesy of Mykki Blanco. On the other side of Special Interest’s club door, there’s a way to escape the pain, too.
