Take what you think you know about Enumclaw thus far, and back up. “Park Lodge”, the latest advance listen from the Tacoma indie rockers, doesn’t just move away from the buzzed and fuzzed out bliss into a daydream ballad with sticky R&B texturing showcasing their evolving versatility. It’s also a deeper dive into the life and times of frontman Artemis Johnson who opens the window of his home, shares stories of life he’s known it up until this point – memories of cramped apartments and friends who didn’t make it – and looks toward a promising future with a bittersweet view. “Standing in place at my front door asking what I need / Thinking of all the times we spent / Talking ‘bout our dreams / Who’d have thought they’d all come true / But only for me.” It’s about winning, but acknowledging the big Ls along the way, too.
Enumclaw’s Save the Baby will be released October 14th on Luminelle Recordings.
