Young Jesus  feat. Tomberlin – “Ocean”

“Stay / Where I am is where I’m not / God is just the ocean where I’m lost,” peers Josh Ressiter into uncertainties that lie ahead of each and every person born of this Earth. The spiritual quest isn’t of the dogmatic nature by the Young Jesus frontman on “Ocean”, the lead single from the Los Angeles-by-way-of-Chicago band’s sixth studio album, Shepherd Head, and the cool harmonies by Saddle Creek labelmate (and unbeliever) Sarah Beth Tomberlin only help turn these sea changes of the id into something more than questions of the divine. Through the floating, ripples of water and ebbing basslines lead to a crunch of footsteps and synthetic percussion in air where answers of the big and existential fall to the self to define.

Young Jesus’ Shepherd Head will be released September 16th on Saddle Creek.
