A dream blunt rotation of devastating, heavy, dangerous, and beautiful voids ruminating from the shoegaze spectrum is how “Gin”, the latest preview off Cold Gawd’s sophomore effort and first since signing with Dais Records, God Get Me the Fuck Out of Here, goes down. Whereas many feedback-makers within the genre have either prettied up or shellacked their edges as its collided with hardcore and indie rock worlds, Cold Gawd leader Matt Wainwright steers his combustible energy into similar voided lanes as early Nothing and – explictly sonically – Whirr in maximizing their burning impact. This is beyond rock bottom. It’s drowning beneath a place of no return and finding an unknown bliss beyond all senses.
