Pohgoh are from the same era of cult emo trailblazers as Rainer Maria and Jejune who helped put a maturity to the feeling on the map back in the ‘90s. Since returning after 20 years in 2018 with their long overdue sophomore effort, Secret Club, they’ve made the most of time loss even in circumstance. Informed by lead singer and guitarist Susie Ulrey’s diagnosis with multiple sclerosis as well as pandemic times, she alongside guitarist Matt Slate, drummer Keith Ulrey and newest member, bassist Brian Roberts, uproot darkness with a sharp perspective on life that bounces light off the “Weeds”, the lead single from their forthcoming third studio effort, du und ich, recorded alongside J. Robbins. A masterclass in emotive indie rock with flawless pop craft, Pohgoh continue defying timing simply by being present in their art.
Pohgoh’s du und ich will be released November 4th on Spartan Records.
