After rising against through movement sounds and strobing club lights on 2020′s breakthrough debut, acts of rebellion, Ela Minus softens the bulbs in a reprieve for personal space and meditation on “Pájaros en Verano” alongside fellow NYC-based producer DJ Python. Blinkering through the latter’s molecular collection of rounded synapse chains, Minus’ gratitude of all she has – air, rest, light, crickets, trees, you – reflected against these past years’ isolation forms from it. “Of all the days that never happened / And the nights that didn’t exist,” she sings. Turning inward more than makes up for it, though, as does the collaborators’ art add one more to that list.
