“Ole Miss rivers / Young believers / Flowing to and fro, we’re gone,” sings Kyle Durfey on “Buckley”, the final preview off Pianos Becomes the Teeth’s forthcoming album, Drift, due out towards August’s end. Though the D.C.-and-Baltimore-based post-hardcore band may sound a thousand screams away from their aggressive beginnings, the ebb and flow as well crest and crash building throughout the listen is as turbulent in its guitar textures, budding bassline, and cymbals coming together to take vacant memories away into deeper waters they’ve yet to charter.
