“Sunlight” awakens Loma Prieta from a dormant spell that has lasted since the release of 2019′s “Continuum” b/w “Fate” single, and with a new found sense of naturalist violence in their sound as well. Vocalist Sean Leary rises to the level of its searing feedback and percussive onslaught equally, and akin to its lyrics, they become one with organic forces tearing through the fabric of everything, making it all new again. “I’m told that sunlight is the best disinfectant / But that same sunlight is radiation / And that same sun sets,” he screams. ”Sunlight as bleach / That which keeps us apart / Keeps us alive.” Here, Loma Prieta are born again from the light.
