Palm – “Feathers”

Palm have not released music in four years, and it shows, in a provocative sonic way at that. “Feathers”, the first single from the Philly experimental rock four-piece’s forthcoming and first effort for Saddle Creek, Nicks and Grazes, is proof you can bend the aural senses beyond the superficial through less orthodox methods with augmenting guitars, texturized production, and rare instrumentation. Their sound has moved away from typical rock dynamics without necessarily mimicking the cliché electronic indie pipeline trope. “I’m making it up as I go / I don’t want to be a passenger,” Eva Alpert sings. They’re clearly driving their own path here.
