“Anna Calls From the Arctic”, the second preview from Dry Cleaning’s sophomore effort, Stumpwork, again turns the mundane of the everyday into a subject of voyeuristic fascination by way of invitation into Florence Shaw’s sing-spoken observations. In conversation with a distant friend literally in the Arctic, Shaw and the London-based quartet scenescape the talk’s incongruencies with a coating of keyboard, bass and clarinet that heats up its icy patches through a sensual delivery, turning the polar points into natural partners.
