“[Skiv] is one of my favorite songs we have ever done. It’s slow and brooding and feels uncomfortably dry at times. This song feels like what a 3AM night feels like to me after having too much to drink,” says Pianos Become the Teeth guitarist Mike York of the band’s pacefully meandering preview off their new album, Drift. That checks out, but so does maybe a want to fast-forward past our current summer to the moments when the sky starts to fall into autumn. There’s a darkness in its yearning, but it’s a welcome kind – an eerie creature comfort that keeps you warm when outside reflects a bleak world.
