On the upside of everything bad that has happened in our lives over the last two years is the work “Flood” puts into the self. As the latest preview and title track off Perth songwriter Stella Donnelly’s forthcoming sophomore outing, Donnelly takes a step back from the deluge of the doldrums as an opportunity to get afloat with the matters in our lives holding us down we are prone to be too long ignoring. A gentle self-care reverie with just enough melancholia to temper its Laurel Canyon ebb and flow, Donnelly washes ashore with a head looking toward silver linings.
