The Chicago-based label Fire Talk Records have been introducing their corner of the music community to promising new sounds through the Open Tab singles series, with recent highlights coming our way from UK experimental rap producer No Home and NYC alterna-pop duo Sub*T. The latest contribution comes right from the label’s own Windy City backyard in Rochester transplants and indie rock four-piece Cusp who on “I Know” stomp their way through big Jimmy Eat World-scaled static riffs as if they were being swashed around by waves of post-punk. A heavy emo sigh from vocalist and guitarist Jen Bender lets the rest be known.
